Checking the fashion forecast holds equal importance to checking the weather forecast, albeit for different reasons. When you tune in to see the latest trends you’re showered with an abundance of information and then you get to make the decision whether to follow the advice or not. The weather report, on the other hand, doesn’t leave you with much of a choice – if it predicts chilly weather sweaters and coats must step on the scene. While there is nothing we can do to control the weather, we can help you choose just the right, most stylish armor that will get you through the somewhat gloomy days of Fall, and then make a smooth and fashionable transition into Spring. Stay tuned, pay close attention, because this is a forecast you don’t want to miss.

Mad About Plaid

If the runways are to be believed, the streets will be swarming with plaid in all shapes and forms, ranging from oversized coats and tailored women’s jackets to incredibly polished suits and much, much more as designers from Stella McCartney to Balenciaga jump on the plaid train. It’s no wonder – the greys, soft browns and blacks are fall’s absolute staple shades, so if you aren’t head over heels for plaid, it’s time to start falling.

A Surprise Appearance

Florals are far from groundbreaking – we’ve all seen The Devil Wears Prada, but even when we think we know what to expect, designers still manage to throw us curve balls. They turned the game upside down and now bold as well as pastel florals will be dazzling all throughout the colder season. Since we’ve noticed that the dominant fabrics are quite breezy, you might want to call in the plaid outerwear to keep you warm. Besides, what’s fall without a little pattern mixing, right?

A Hint Of Tradition

Given the number of designers that have presented everything from coats and dresses to tops and even makeup, it’s safe to say that red will dominate the fall (millennial pink was too much for fall to bear), but if you’re not keen on the idea of spending an entire season in Valentine’s Day getup, and the metallic silver is just a bit too much, a more tempting trend is just around the corner. We simply can’t get enough of Americana and the wonderful homage designers from New York to Paris are paying to cultural heritage, not to mention that the garments themselves are whimsical, a bit quirky and just what the doctor ordered to beat the fall blues. Stepping out in an Americana garment will definitely have heads turning.

The Common Ground

Before we walk away from fall and dive right into spring, there is one thing that simply cannot go unmentioned – the makeup. Although we’re dealing with two different seasons, it’s surprising how the makeup trends don’t differ much. The no-makeup makeup trend seems to be ruling fall, and by the looks of it, spring will be sheer and radiant as well. Grab your light BB creams, a nourishing lip balm, and just a hint of that perfectly rosy blush for a healthy clean look. Aside from this trend, another one we love and couldn’t be happier about is the bold red and burgundy lip followed by not much else. This is a minimum effort for a maximum effect at its finest.

Bring It On!

Just looking at the spring lines is bound to fill your heart and your shopping wish list with anticipation. One of our absolute favorites made an appearance on the very last day of NYFW, and it was presented by no other than Marc Jacobs. The esoteric turban has finally entered mainstream fashion! Of course, if you take a cue from Jacobs, you’ll be looking at a very ‘busy’ spring, complete with the athleisure-inspired fanny pack and all of that is on top of bright-colored oversized suits. In a true millennial fashion, Jacobs has managed to merge all the style boxes, bold cat-eye and preppy shirts buttoned up all the way included.

All. That. Glam.

The moment true glamour skips our mind, Tom Ford arrives in the nick of time to give us a friendly reminder. While fall has shown us a certain amount of color, Ford is here to redefine the sheer elegance of millennial pink. The dressy shorts and metallic blazers, pants, and sequin-featuring dresses – all graced with that wonderful pink hue. Even if you’re not a fan of the color, you’re bound to become one. Of course, this line predicts a return of a, for many, much beloved and sorely missed trend – the big shoulders! If you’re a member of the ‘ladies of the 80s’ at heart, you’ll undoubtedly rejoice this comeback. As for the beauty department, one thing simply can’t go unnoticed – the deep side part pixie a vast majority of models were rocking. Just when you thought a pixie couldn’t get sexier – it does.
