Tech Dress: Macbook Pro Cases & Skins

This morning whilst I was on the first of two buses I had to take to travel home, a rather large and homely gentleman decided to sit next to me. There were a few other places he could have sat but the double-decker was really full, so as he approached me I prepared myself to press my body as close the window as possible, ignore his existence entirely and be ready to fling myself out of the second tier window at any given moment if he decided to speak to me. Yes, British public transport rules may be tricky but they keep us happy and alive.

About halfway through the twenty-minute journey I noticed that my newly acquired bus seat buddy had his enormous boots on my equally enormous rucksack which I’d placed on the floor when he’d decided the seat besides me was vacant. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not particularly precious about my rucksack, I realise that it isn’t more important to place that on a seat instead of a human being. However, I am extremely precious about my Macbook Pro - who I have affectionately called Layla for the past five years - and his hideous, massive shoes were pressing on her through the fabric.

Fortunately, my Macbook Pro was safely snuggled inside her red Jivo sleeve, however when I got home I checked her all over for damage. Layla’s old now you see, and I’m constantly paranoid that she’ll break at any minute. Whilst checking her I noticed that her entire underside is covered in scratches and dents that as far as I can remember have no significant origins.

So, this rambling yet harrowing, and decidedly anticlimactic story is what encouraged me to finally delve into the world of Macbook cases and skins. Some of them are so lovely that I thought I’d share them with you guys in case you are equally as neurotic about your Macbook, or simply sensible enough to get a case or skin before the inevitable scratches occur.
