Summertime is almost here, and that means humid weather all day and awesome parties all night. Best of all, it means that we finally get to bust out our summer wardrobe!

Get inspired by the summer trends seen on the runway — in fact, it makes us want to revamp all our closets! Here are some of our favourite summer fashion trends for 2018:

Dress Loud and Proud

Designers always make their summer looks brighter than the other season’s, but this year they really went hard on the Pantone chart. Models were walking the catwalk in bright, loud shades, and we loved it!

When you’re shopping for your summer wardrobe, don’t be afraid to grab everything off the colour wheel. Try cool blues, fiery reds, bold burgundy, and everything in between. As far as we’re concerned, the brighter, the better!

Shine Bright Like a… Vinyl

One of the most interesting trends this year was the use of vinyl and plastic-coated nylon. These materials created shiny, wet-looking fabrics for looks that were creative, cute and S&M-chic.

Try pairing a graphic tee with a cute vinyl skirt. Swap it around and wear a vinyl sleeveless top with a full, twirly skirt. Any way you style it, the vinyl will add some texture and dynamics to your look.

Take It To The Tropics

You might think that the colourful, tropical print — à la Lilly Pulitzer — is old hat for summer fashion. But here’s the thing: these looks aren’t going anywhere.

Designers like Marc Jacobs and Versace were dressing models in flashy prints, silky fabrics, and turbans that Gloria Swanson could only dream of. To master this look, you need a patterned dress, jumpsuit, or top and pants set, then hit the beach and let the colours do the talking!

Puff Up Those Sleeves

Big sleeves seemed to disappear with the 80s, but they are back in a big way. This summer, designers are all-in for opulent, more vibrant styles, featuring puffed-up sleeves.

There are several ways you can style this look. A simple blouse with pouffy, elbow-length sleeves looks great with a pair of white pants and cute heels. Or you look for a sundress with long, puffy sleeves (just make sure it’s a breathable material).

Summer Office Wear: The Short Power Suit

If you’re like us, summer can make you a little squirrelly. Your mind is screaming summer vacation, but your wallet is saying go to work! You may not be able to break free from the office, but you can amp up your summer office look.

Many models took to the catwalk in blazers and high-waisted statement shorts — and it looked freakin’ badass! If you want to bring a little summer energy into your office, this look will do the trick (just make sure it’s HR-approved first!).

With these trends in mind, you can create some of the boldest, most colourful, and creative looks the summer has ever seen. So get out there and turn your wardrobe into something spectacular!
