If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, Gemporia is about to become a girl’s favourite destination.
With the world’s largest selection of ethically sourced genuine gemstone jewellery, Gemporia* is by far one of the most successful online diamond destinations there is. Although I’ve only had the pleasure of visiting diamond retailers a few times in my life, I have always found it a fascinating, almost ethereal experience. So, I am extremely excited to tell you guys that Gemporia are ready to offer that experience to everyone in The Diamond Room!
The Diamond Room
On March 4th, Gemporia are launching The Diamond Room, a Virtually In Store Retailing (VIStailing) innovation which will enable their customers to interact with qualified Diamond Specialists in a bespoke online shopping experience.
The Diamond Room, which will be open between 1pm – 1am (GMT) seven days a week, is as close to visiting an actual store as you can possibly get online. Using the in-house live video chat you will be able to discuss all of your diamond dilemmas with experts who will offer you advice, product demonstrations and a unique personal shopping experience all from the comfort of your own home.
Since the site was launched in August 2013, Gemporia have believed that beautiful jewellery shouldn’t cost more than your rent, nor should any two pieces be exactly the same. There are currently over 700 different diamond designs for you to choose from on Gemporia, from exquisite engagement rings to statement necklaces and everything in between.
“There have always been customers who know exactly what they want and will shop online in the conventional way,” says Gemporia’s founder and diamond-hunter Steve Bennett. “But when customers need a more detailed service and demonstration, VIStailing is the obvious choice.
“We have already been doing this with our live video chat on Gemporia.com for over a year now, but the difference with this new extension to our service, is that the customer can request a live product demonstration. Buying a diamond ring for example is a considered purchase and requires a skilled individual to share their knowledge ensuring the customer finds the right piece.”
There are currently four Diamond Specialist available in The Diamond Room including Nick Davies and Drew Nichols. Davies and Nichols have been advising customers about diamonds for over a decade and have both received qualifications from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) who created the 4Cs, so they definitely know what they’re talking about. Staff are fully trained to answer any product enquiries and can even offer you alternative options based on your preferences. For instance, if you wish to compare a half-carat diamond engagement ring with a similar design but differing quality grading, your Diamond Specialist will select similar pieces and discuss the rings with you. It’s that easy!
How Does It Work?
To ensure you receive an immersive and fully interactive service in The Diamond Room, the experts will be donning wristbands that tracks their movements. This allows cameras to pick up where they are, so if they’re going to a cabinet to retrieve a particular piece for you the cameras will follow them. When the jewellery is presented, innovative touchpads in the floor allow the expert to control the close up camera lens so the customer can focus entirely on the item.
The Diamond Room will be accessible from the Gemporia homepage and will be available on desktops, tablets and smartphones from March 4 2016.
