I have a confession to make: I don’t like Topshop.
Mostly, I find that the clothing is impractical, expensive and the sizes are all over the place. Believe me, I’ve tried wearing Topshop clothing at a size 8, a size 14 and everything in between and nothing ever seems to fit right. Don’t even get me started on their clothing when it comes to accommodating boobs! If you have boobs bigger than a D-cup and you like Topshop why you always lying?
Alas, I had to have a look at their new collection Ivy Park as it was co-created by Beyoncé and well, it’s Beyoncé.
The new activewear label aims to inspire us “to stay strong, healthy and happy – no matter what your sporting ability or body shape.” I was particularly interested in the latter part of that statement and was pleasantly surprised that in this range a M is a UK 12-14, the sizes go up to an XL UK 16 - 18 and there isn’t massive 10cm+ jumps between sizes.
In a video featured on Topshop’s Ivy Park page, Beyoncé tells us about the park where her dad used to take her running, and despite the fact she sounds dead inside throughout it is a lovely story. Although the focus seems to be on exercise, the collection is supposed to transition seamlessly between the gym and the bar. This may work for some people, but I doubt many of us will be going out around town in our gym gear. Anyway, let’s take a look at the highlights and the WHAT ARE THOSE? worthy pieces:
Ivy Park: What I Like
Ivy Park: WTF
Overall, I actually really like Ivy Park. Some of the pieces are seriously ugly - I’m looking at you blue clown leggings - but most of it is cute, practical and most importantly it makes a statement. I’m actually really tempted to get one of the bra tops - if they fit, fyi here’s the size guide - although I’m very disappointed the product description isn’t For Jumpin’ Jumpin’.
What do you think of Ivy Park? Let me know in the comments!
