Our home is our palace and we always want to do everything we can to make the space feel welcoming and warm throughout the year. If you are looking for some new elements to bring to your home this year we have some great ideas for you to try which will make the home feel like a bigger and brighter space this spring.

Open Up The Kitchen

One of the first things you can choose to do to make the home feel more open and bright is to install some French doors to the back of the kitchen leading out into the garden. Imagine how amazing it would be on a weekend day to be grilling some burgers on the barbecue and serving drinks in the kitchen while the sun shines overhead. Opening up the kitchen and garden can make a wonderful space for you to enjoy in the warmer months.

Paint The Ceilings

If you have a fairly small living space to work with it can be difficult for you to create that idea of space. However there is one clever trick you can do which will cost next to nothing and will make any room look larger than it is. All you need to do is paint your walls white, and then paint the ceiling a bright colour such as yellow or blue. The colour will draw the eye upwards and this will in turn give the illusion of a larger space.

Hang LED Spotlights

There are many ways you can create space and light to the house, but none are simpler than upgrading your light fittings and installing new ones all over the home. You can search a store like Abbeygate Lighting for new lighting and a great option for a bright home is spotlights. LED lights are incredibly bright making them ideal for your home.

Install A Skylight

If you have an extension on the back of the home or you have your bedroom on the top floor of your home, why not install a skylight? Skylights are stunning and they will bring a huge stream of natural light into the home all day long. Plus, at night you’ll be able to enjoy the stars first hand as you lay back and relax. What could really be better than that?

Clear Out The Space

One of the main things which can make a home feel smaller and darker is having too many items in each room. If your home is overrun with items this can have a knock on effect with your home because you’ll have less space to move around and more shadows will be created which can cause the space to feel small. Have a clear out for the spring and you’ll see a big difference in the space overall.

There are loads of ways to bring more light and space to the home, so have some fun choosing different methods to make your house feel bigger and brighter for the summer season this year.
