There is no doubt about it, hardwood flooring can make a stunning statement in any home. From the traditional cottage to a modern apartment, if you are looking to add a touch of natural beauty to your home then this is the perfect way to do it. There are so many different varieties of wood to consider for your flooring, with many people sticking to Oak and Beech, but Ash hardwood flooring is a fantastic choice that is growing in popularity.
Why Ash?
Ash hardwood flooring is incredibly durable as well as being resistant to impact, which makes it the perfect choice for almost any room in the home. This particularly makes it an incredibly popular choice for the kitchen. The kitchen is a high foot traffic area that is also prone to items being dropped or liquids being spilled and of course chairs or bar stools being moved around – all things that will certainly put it to the test. Ash is in fact harder than Oak. It is around 10% harder which means that it is even more durable and resistant to impact and will stand up very well to being used in any room in your home.
Ash is predominately available in light shades which range form very pale yellow to a more medium brown shade. As with most hardwood flooring it can be subject to change over time, but it also responds well to stains and finishes which will give you access to a much greater range of shades should you prefer something a little different. If you are looking for hardwood flooring for a smaller room then Ash is the obvious choice. Its natural light shade will help to give a small room the illusion of space, in the same way as using lighter colours with your decorating can. Having said that, there is no reason why lighter shades of Ash hardwood flooring wouldn’t work equally well in a larger room, especially if you are looking to create a very modern open plan look in your home.
Ash White Falsterbo
One of the paler coloured Ash hardwood floorings available, this is a stunning creamy white coloured wood with a beautiful grain that would look stunning in any very modern minimalistic room. It would be ideal for use in a sleek thoroughly modern kitchen with either dark or light units, however it would also be the ideal choice for an open plan living room, helping to bring the illusion of light and making an open space look even bigger.
Ash Gotland Country
A richer medium brown flooring with beautiful grain and knot detail, this Ash hardwood flooring is further enhanced by the natural paler, almost yellow in colour, stripes that run through it. This would be the perfect flooring for a large kitchen diner and would pair especially well with a more traditional or country style of unit. The bigger the room the better when it comes to this flooring allowing the natural pattern of the wood to be fully appreciated.
Ash Gothenberg City
A medium shade of ash, with shades verging towards the more yellow tones. This is a vibrant, bold and bright choice with beautiful natural patterns. This would work really well in a large hallway where you wanted to bring a really welcoming and inviting note to your home. It is also a very good choice for a bright and airy lounge or living room with plenty of natural light and would work very well in either a modern or a more traditional setting. If you are considering Ash flooring for, there really is a shade and a style to suit every home and every room.
Now you know a little more about the benefits and choices in Ash, will it be making its way
into your home?
