As anyone who has ever shared a Buzzed article or googled ‘how to be more confident/ friendly/ sexy’ in the early 2000s will know, photography is an integral part of marketing, content creation and web design. Due to this, site owners and editors will often pay for subscriptions to stock image sites that usually only offer cheesy, tacky or downright frightening stock images. You know, the ones that have 423 photos of smiling people but not a single one looks remotely natural. Fortunately, these sites are becoming less popular as independent photographers and online communities are curating and sharing their photography for free. Whether I’m writing blog posts or creating content for other online sites I always ensure that I include beautiful, unique and professional-looking photography, all from these sites below.
All of the following sites host photographs that fall under the creative commons license and are therefore free from copyright restrictions meaning you can copy, edit and distribute them without permission. Hope they’re helpful!
