It’s finally Christmas Eve you guys! As Christmas arrives and Blogmas ends, I thought I’d share my very own cookie recipe with you because Christmas cookies are one of the best parts of Christmas. I hope you enjoy my post and have a merry Christmas!
01 . Firstly, preheat your oven to 180 degrees. I’ve forgotten to put my oven on and had to wait so many time this step is perhaps the most important.
02. Next, mix the butter, brown sugar and white, granulated sugar together. If you have an electric mixer then you’re going to have a pretty easy time with this. However, if like me you’re kitchen is more 1815 than 2016, you can use a wooden spoon. You can then abandon that and use your hands like I do.
03. Once the mixture looks a bit like wet sand, crack one egg into the bowl and mix.
05. Now it’s time to mix the flour and baking powder, this is by far the least interesting part.
06. But now you get to gradually mix the flour in with the butter-sugar-egg mixture. It doesn’t seem possible to mix all that flower in without creating a big lump of sticky flour but trust me.
07. Throw those chocolate chips in!
08. After mixing the chocolate chips into the dough, it’s time to spoon blobs onto a baking tray. If it’s impossible to get an aesthetically pleasing photo of this process, you’re doing it right.
09. Place in the oven until they turn golden brown. My cookies were in for around twenty-five minutes because they were still as white as I am at fifteen minutes (picture below). They also merged together to create weird square cookies because I was trying to make a blog post about how to bake and they weren’t having that.
10. If your cookies have come out looking like lovely circular cookies then you need only let them cool for a while. If they’ve become a huge, entangled cookie quilt then you may want to separate them before they’re too cool.
